31. Jan Tasting - Finca del Castillo Tempranillo

Region: La Mancha
Country: Spain
Year: 2011

Wine Shop Review: Rooty, spicy and baked on the nose, with aromas that lean towards raisin. The palate is more gritty and acidic, with raisin, cola, and spicy flavors. Darkens up on the finish, which is long and peppery, with adequate juiciness and a final note of tomato.
My Review: This darker red wine had a really noticeable raisin taste - which I found really interesting. The black pepper flavor as well as the tomato flavor make this a wine I would like to try with a steak or pasta dish. But since I tried this at the vintage cellar, I didn't get to try it with any food.
